A Cool Story
I am going to start including a story every month in my Blurb. This one is a doosey. Its about how animals find us in this life. Stories are what convince people that animal communication is real. And as Rupert Sheldrake said, ‘Any anecdote that is published is data.’
Ellie
Here is a story from a client about how meeting her dog Ellie was no accident
I lost a dog a while ago and my remaining dog, Bentlly, was completely depressed. He would just sit outside in the cold looking at the gate, so I decided to go to the Animal Shelter to find him a sister.
My friend went with me and all the dog there was breaking my heart. I noticed one sick bony dog in a pen with three puppies. The puppies would knock her over and she would pop back up and just look at me. I thought to myself, no this is not the kind of dog I would ever pick. Instead I went and found the kind of dog I usually pick, but when we brought him out to meet Bently it was not a match. I couldn’t keep looking. When we went back into the hallway there was that dog again and something happened. It felt like she looked into my soul, like she picked me. A lady behind me said “That dog just picked you!” I denied it and we left.
That night I had a nightmare about the dog. I woke up upset and couldn’t understand why. I called my friend, and she said “The dog came to you in your dreams. I think you have your answer.”
I called the shelter and told them I was coming to pick her up. Her history was that her owner was arrested on Christmas Eve and when they went into his house they found the dog, whom I named Ellie, and her sister locked in a wire kennel being starved to death. Ellie weighted only 17lbs, when I got her. Before she died unexpectedly two years later, she was 33lbs of pure love and zest for life.
At first she was very sick, I had to keep her in the bathroom so my other dog wouldn’t catch the kennel cough she had, and spent hours with her there. I took her to dog obedience to get her to trust other dogs and people. We went to the lake and Bentley taught her about water, she loved to swim and she learned how to ride on the 4-wheeler. From what I could tell her life only existed in a kennel so it was fun to watch her experience all the adventures of a dog life.
Ellie passed away on12/8/25 unexpectedly. My world will never be the same, when she died she took part of my soul with her. I am so honored that she picked me even though we only had two years together, and I know for a fact that she picked me and that our meeting was meant to be.
