Animal Communicators are on a par with psychic readers. No matter how much some people in the former group might want to disengage from the entirety of the latter group, doing animal communication is ESP, telepathy, 6th sense, or, in two words, a psychic reading. What that means for me is that the information that comes from “reading” an animal’s thoughts, feelings, images, and emotions is speculation until proven otherwise. If you can’t prove it, you can’t claim that it is true. Unfortunately, I have heard second-hand about way too many communicators who insist that they know all. For example, they say that they know, with certainty, what is physically wrong with an animal, or they know for certain where a lost animal is. To me this is not only completely unintelligent, but also negligent. Worst case, for example, a communicator tells someone their animal is fine and does not need to go to the vet, and the animal then dies. My vet told me about this case….Incredible! Another case, a communicator tells a person their lost animal doesn’t want to come home to them and is with someone else now. I got that call from a distraught owner, had to calm her down, did a consult for free for her (to restore her faith in animal communicators) , and helped her find her dogs who were lost in the forest and soooooo happy she found them and got them home.

Really people ??????? What would make a communicator say things like that? Besides being just, well….. stupid? The only other thing I can think is that they have weak egos and need to feel important and all knowing. There is nothing to be done except to tell people to be very careful when selecting a communicator (or a human psychic). Well, I guess the same goes for hiring someone to do any service: Get a referral, peruse their website, read what they have written and most important go with your intuitive hit. Also, don’t give your power away. I tell my clients that they are the ultimate test of the information I get. If they can verify it great, if not, I ask them how it feels to them. If something really doesn’t seem right then just reject it. I don’t ever want to take someone’s power away. My goal in my work and in my writing, is to give the gift of intuitive connection back to people, not make it exclusively mine. Please share your thoughts on this subject with me. I always like to hear what you are thinking.

Percy the Train Cat

This is a link to a great story about a cat in a small town who regularly rides the trains.

http://www.yorkshirepost.co.uk/news/meet-percy-the-cat-who-travels-by-train-to-watch-the-fish-at-marine-life-centre-1-2307213

Everyone knows him and he has a huge following. I have heard of a few cats like this. One had two different homes and he would cycle back and forth between them. The two owners finally found out when they put little notes in a bottle on his collar and managed to connect the dots. I remember my cat Jenny would disappear for hours on end and come back smelling of perfume each time. In my first book I retold the story of the cat in Canada who went around stealing everyone’s laundry. Have heard of a few of those! So entertaining to realize they have their own agendas, and in the case of cats, because they are often free roaming, they are quite capable of carrying them out! Do you know any great stories about animals having secret lives?

Too Funny

Check out the title of the book this cat is sitting on….

It’s my book, Learning Their Language, in Dutch….. discriminating Dutch cats always choose it.

Re State of the Earth

I often do updates in my blog about what is happening to the earth and the animals. Why do I care so much? Well I am an environmentalist first animal communicator second. Without the earth what have we got? But some days, like today, it is overwhelming…. Just saw the info coming in that the dolphins and turtles in the Gulf of Mexico are going through a second wave of die offs.

http://motherjones.com/blue-marble/2012/03/barataria-bay-dolphins-severely-ill

People are searching for the reason the animals’ bodies are failing. Hello? Can you spell 4 million gallons of Corexit and counting… as in they are STILL dumping it in and the oil is STILL leaking. I feel like one of those Marshall arts movies with Ninjas coming at me from all directions. Without a doubt someone is trying to kill of our planet. Deranged CEOs? or who knows. Maybe who doesn’t really matter. What we do in response does. And as I have been saying consistently in my blog, do something real in the real world… Occupy Now, or support the sustainability movement, join the causes against fracking, or Monsanto or….. pick your poison, and work on shifting things energetically through manifesting for the earth and the animals, doing energy healing, or what ever works for you. I will continue to share new and interesting ways to help the animals and the earth, and information on what is happening that I am sure you won’t be hearing in the news, and I am ever hopeful that we can shift this mess and save the jewel that is our planet.

Please share this blog if you liked it! (still trying to figure out how to put share icons in word press… anyone know… Help!)

Great message and SO SO true, THANKS!!

You are so right. I know things, but I never know it for sure, if you know what I mean.

I think another problem is that sometimes you can tell 15 things and the owner takes the one thing out of it that he wants to hear and just ignore the rest. Specially in missing cases. I have made a list of things which could been happening with lost animals, to let people know that multiple things could happen. But people sometimes have their own truth.

I had a case in which the owners did not recognize the surroundings. Another communicator told them the animal had been stolen. I had the idea it was trapped somewhere in a dangerous place, not far from where it went missing. It was found, it was trapped, in an bunker in the dunes, very dangerous indeed. A friend did read my description afterwards and it fitted like a glove. Only those things are pieces of a puzzle and the owners have to recognize things. Because in a way they could be just a bit different, because the animal sees things in another way that we do. So it was not stolen.

In another case a cat went missing, a house with many cats and also often litters of kittens. Her mother lived there too. My idea was she went on adventure and either got lost and was found by somebody else or she looked for a new home herself. My feeling was that she had enough of the situation. I did not see that so blunt because you never know if either that’s my feeling of hers. Somebody else told the lady her cat was stolen, and that was what she wanted to hear. We never found out. Difficult emotional things

Hi Gonny Nice to hear from you. you will get cases where you just know the animal is probably better off not going home LOL. that las one sounds like that. And I have definitely met the client counterpart to the communicator described in my rant, ie someone who really wants to be sort of bullied or told how to think rather than assuming their own power. The world is amazingly disfunctional.

  3. Cynthia Burke

Bless you…good rant…not helpful, these all-knowing wannabees. But of course they’re in every profession…I used to tell my real estate clients “Sex and Real Estate, everyone thinks s/he’s an expert”, and now I’ve added “cat care” to the mantra…

Gotta say, though, I’ve had the most wonderful and gratifyingly large number of folks who love my holistic approach to cat rescue ‘n care…:-)
Not hard to add the share buttons…a young person did it for me!

    Love, C.

Hi miss Bee Holistic herself. yes it is a wonderful trend in the world right now. People are going holistic and sustainable all over the place. that is the ticket.

  4. Kristin Thompson

Thank you for this post Marta. I agree with you whole heartedly!
I teach a course on Ethics for Animal Care Practitioners within Animal Spirit Network, and it carries so many valuable insights for people to consider and get clear on, before moving into practicing animal communication and related modalities, with people and their animals. When I hear from clients about situations similar to those you describe in this post, it makes me cringe and feel great compassion for the people and animals who have been impacted by the projections of the person who was doing the communicating. Doing this work is a huge responsibility. And one of the many aspects included in that responsibility is that we get clear with our own intentions, integrity, ethics, beliefs, abilities and limitations in the process.
    Thanks Marta!

Hi Kristin – Yes it is important for people to understand the issues and potential repercussions of what they do. Ultimately however, it comes down to common sense and compassion. I think a lot of the people who do these kinds of things are just mentally ill and there isn’t a whole lot to be done except to avoid them.

I agree with you totally about “readers” – having read tarot cards for many over the last 20+ years (and then being blessed to take your animal communication classes years ago!) I always tell clients to speak up if something resonates for them in what I say, or DOESN’T! Often there are things that come through for me that a client will deny…and then later on admit that it was spot on and they were embarrassed to admit it. LOL I tell them I have no agenda, I’m just the messenger – and they are ultimately connected to whatever is happening for them – or their animals!

Thanks for the updates on Mother Earth as well as the great contacts you list for more info. Your time and efforts are greatly appreciated!

    1. Marta

That actually happens a lot. Things will sink in later, but that’s why it is good to find the diplomatic way to say everything, allowing the “out” that it may or may not be accurate. Then people can accept if they wish in their own time. You are welcome for the updates and info. Glad you appreciate. chow

  6. Marjolein

In december my friends blind cat went missing and she looked all over for her, local radio, flyers etc. I had a feeling that she was in a garden, trapped because she didn’t dare going under the fence because of her blindness. I kept describing things I smelled because the cat was blind and saw through another cats’ eyes but she could not find it. animal communicators told her she was probably dead because they could not contact her but that didn’t feel right to me. I felt she was in despair but not dead. I could only tell her to not give up hope, until her body was found. But it was so hard. What if I was wrong and the cat was indeed dead and I gave her false hope? I couldn’t sleep over it at night and kept communicating with the cat without telling her. After being missing for 24 days, with days of rain, snowstorms and fireworks she was found.. In a garden. The piece of not being able to contact her because she was dead was so awful for my friend but sounded weird to me. I can still communicate with a dead animal. That was my only lead that they couldn’t contact her at all. But just say that, don’t say the animal is dead. You just never know until you can proof or if it makes perfect sense and all adds up for the people who live with the animal.

    1. Marta

Hi Marjolein .. This is exactly the point. No one should ever assume anything until there is proof. Especially with a lost animal.

  7. Roree Severance

    Hi Marta,
The story you shared in “Ethics and Animal Communication” about the woman who had been told their lost animal doesn’t want to come home to them and is with someone else now was similar to my experience in 2009. Two of my cats disappeared, and one communicator told me my cats were living nearby, by the large pond where we live and were happy to be wild. She also insinuated that they responded to the energies in our home which caused them to want to run away!!! I felt horrible believing this might be true!!!
You did a reading for me and what you said resonated much more realistically and deeply, sadly that they were gone. Several small pets disappeared that summer/fall as there were signs all over our community for lost cats and a few small dogs. A neighbor shared witnessing her mother’s small dog taken by predators. There were numerous sightings of coyotes that year.
I have had confirmation from my own intuition, as well as another medium while doing another reading which revealed that my kitties. You have always seemed grounded and without the blinders of egoity when I have consulted your expertise. You give what you have without any added BS. I appreciate that kind of integrity and honesty.
I live in Maine and I hope to get to your workshop when you come to Vermont!!! Thank you so much for all that you do and the way that you do it!!!

    Sincerely,
    Roree C. Severance
